Polestar is preparing to launch the Polestar 4 electric crossover in the US, where the model is positioned as a key driver of sales growth and brand expansion. The coupe-style EV crossover is designed to compete directly with leading models in the segment, including the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 e-tron.
The Polestar 4 is built on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform developed by Geely. The model will be offered in several configurations. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version will feature a single electric motor producing around 272 hp, while the all-wheel-drive variant will use dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 544 hp and 686 Nm of torque.
Energy is supplied by a 102 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of up to 610 km on the WLTP cycle and approximately 480–520 km under the US EPA standard. With this setup, the Polestar 4 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around 3.8 seconds, placing it firmly among high-performance premium EV crossovers.
The model supports DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, allowing the battery to be replenished from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes. Inside, the Polestar 4 features a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, a digital dashboard, and the Android Automotive operating system with integrated Google Maps and Google Assistant. An optional Harman Kardon audio system with output of up to 1,400 watts is also available.
The US launch of the Polestar 4 carries significant strategic importance for the brand. In 2023, Polestar sold approximately 54,600 vehicles globally, and the company aims to increase annual sales to around 290,000 units by 2027. Analysts note that the success of the Polestar 4 could be decisive for the company’s financial future, as crossovers account for roughly 50–60% of global EV demand.
The Polestar 4 is also expected to play the role of a more accessible alternative to the flagship Polestar 3, which starts at around $83,900 in the US. Pricing for the Polestar 4 is anticipated to fall in the $55,000–$70,000 range, depending on configuration, making it more competitive in the fast-growing premium mass-market EV segment.
