Mercedes-Benz has chosen China as the launch market for the new GLC EV. On June 5, 2026, the company opened pre-orders for the model, which is built on the MB.EA platform.
The starting pre-order price is 349,000 yuan, equivalent to roughly 51,300 USD. Buyers can choose between five-seat and six-seat configurations, with heated, ventilated and massaging seats available in both versions.
The new GLC EV measures 4,933 mm in length, 1,914 mm in width and 1,710 mm in height, while the wheelbase stretches to 3,027 mm. Compared with the current long-wheelbase ICE version, the EV is 107 mm longer and has a wheelbase that is 50 mm longer.
The front trunk offers 128 liters of storage capacity, while the rear cargo area provides 570 liters.
The cabin is dominated by a seamless 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen. The MB.OS operating system includes a virtual assistant named “Xiao Ben,” which is integrated with the Doubao large language model.
The panoramic roof features 154 illuminated Mercedes-Benz emblems and nine independently adjustable transparency zones. The Burmester audio system supports Dolby Atmos.
The flagship five-seat version is powered by dual electric motors producing a combined 310 kW (416 hp), paired with an 85.5 kWh battery pack. The claimed range is 703 km on the CLTC cycle.
The 800-volt electrical architecture enables charging from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes.
The chassis incorporates the AIRMATIC air suspension and adaptive ADS+ damping system borrowed from the S-Class. The rear wheels can steer by up to 4.5 degrees.
The vehicle is equipped with Momenta’s intelligent driving system, which supports advanced features such as urban and highway pilot assist, as well as automatic lane changes without navigation guidance.
Mercedes-Benz aims to achieve “parking-space-to-parking-space” autonomous driving capability by the end of the year.
The model launches at a time when Mercedes-Benz sales in China have been declining for 12 consecutive months, and the GLC EV is expected to help reverse that trend.
