At the 30th Greater Bay Area International Auto Show, Leapmotor officially unveiled its new flagship MPV, the D99. The newcomer is positioned as the top model in the brand’s lineup.
The vehicle is built on a new electrical architecture featuring an integrated central domain controller that combines infotainment, vehicle-control and autonomous-driving functions into a single system. In addition, the onboard software is powered by a large language model (LLM). Full commercial sales of the model are expected to begin in mid-2026.
The D99’s computing power is particularly impressive. Thanks to a pair of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 processors, the system delivers a combined computing capacity of 1,280 TOPS.
The cabin is built around a highly digital environment, featuring a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen, a head-up display (HUD) and an additional roof-mounted entertainment screen for rear passengers. Driver-assistance and predictive driving functions are supported by a dedicated vision-language AI model (VLA).
One of the main highlights of the D99 is its highly flexible interior layout.
The seating configuration offers multiple transformation options, including the ability to create full sleeping areas. Owners can fold the first and second rows, fully recline the third row, or combine the rear seating area into a larger lounge-style space.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the rear seats can be configured as outward-facing “fishing seats” when the tailgate is open.
The cargo area features a deep underfloor storage compartment, allowing the creation of a completely flat load floor when the seats are folded.
The second row is equipped with premium captain’s chairs featuring a “zero-gravity” mode. The seats can rotate up to 90 degrees for easier access and greater flexibility, or face the third row to create a lounge or conference-style layout around a large folding table.
Additional premium features include an opening panoramic roof and ambient interior lighting called “Stars Ring.”
From the outside, the D99 stands out with its streamlined silhouette and two-tier lighting design. The upper LED light strip features a sharp, stepped appearance, while the lower lighting units incorporate DLP matrix technology with a resolution of one million pixels.
Five exterior colors will be available.
The panoramic roof covers an area of 1.46 square meters, while the glass blocks more than 99.9% of UV radiation.
The sliding rear doors feature concealed guide rails integrated into the body structure.
At the rear, the vehicle is equipped with full-width taillights featuring integrated interactive ISD display panels.
