During the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend, BMW officially unveiled the Concept M Neue Klasse, a striking show car that previews the upcoming all-electric iM3 sports sedan scheduled to enter global markets in 2027.
The concept shares its underlying platform with the standard i3 electric sedan but features a far more aggressive design. Finished in an exclusive Monza Red paint scheme, the car is equipped with widened wheel arches, large front air intakes inspired by racing prototypes, and a prominent ducktail rear spoiler. The front splitter, rear diffuser, and hood vent are made from an innovative natural-fiber composite material.
One of the concept’s most distinctive design elements is its slim horizontal kidney grille, seamlessly integrated with the headlight units. The lighting signature incorporates vertical yellow LED accents inspired by the BMW M Hybrid V8 Le Mans race car. BMW confirmed that these yellow “Track Lights,” previously reserved for limited-production CS models, will become a signature feature of future electric vehicles developed by BMW M.
Inside, the concept features four individual racing bucket seats upholstered in Bathurst Blue and Berry Red leather and equipped with five-point harnesses. The dashboard is wrapped in black knitted fabric and incorporates customizable hexagonal ambient lighting. For the first time in an M model, nubuck trim is used on the steering wheel and door panels.
