The Chinese market has officially welcomed the new fully electric AUDI E7X crossover, developed jointly by the German automaker and Chinese automotive group SAIC. The newcomer’s starting price turned out to be highly competitive at 269,800 yuan (around 39,795 USD), which is 20,000 yuan (2,950 USD) lower than the price announced during the pre-order stage.
The EV was created as a direct competitor to the popular Xiaomi YU7 and offers an advanced 900-volt electrical architecture, powertrains producing up to 500 kW (670 hp), and a maximum range of up to 751 km.
It is important to emphasize the specifics of the model’s positioning: AUDI in this case is a separate sub-brand created exclusively for the Chinese market. While retaining the name of the legendary marque, these vehicles do not feature the traditional four-ring logo. Instead, they use the AUDI wordmark in capital letters. The brand is aimed at younger buyers and follows a futuristic design philosophy.
The first model in this lineup was the stylish E5 Sportback coupe-crossover introduced last year. It is now joined by the larger five-seat E7X coupe-crossover, featuring a sloping roofline, pronounced wheel arches and short body overhangs. The headlights consist of 1,446 individual LED elements capable of displaying eight different welcome-light animations.
In addition, the matrix headlights can project navigation instructions, distance warnings and parking-assistance graphics directly onto the road surface.
Measuring 5,049 mm in length, 1,997 mm in width and 1,710 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,060 mm, the E7X is larger than the conventional Audi Q8. The vehicle rides on 22-inch wheels and is equipped with a high-performance Brembo braking system.
The interior features a two-row layout, allowing for a spacious 682-liter luggage compartment. The driver is greeted by a digital cockpit consisting of a 27-inch central display and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Optional virtual side mirrors add two additional screens at the edges of the dashboard.
The front seats come equipped with a full range of comfort features, including heating, ventilation and massage functions, while the front passenger seat offers a retractable footrest. Rear passengers benefit from an integrated refrigerator and a 21.4-inch roof-mounted entertainment screen. A Bose premium audio system with 26 speakers is also available.
Autonomous driving functions are powered by the Momenta R7 AI model, which processes information from 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, three millimeter-wave radars and one LiDAR unit with the assistance of a high-performance Nvidia Orin X chip rated at 254 TOPS.
The system can perform three-point turns, navigate narrow streets and execute emergency avoidance maneuvers in the event of sudden obstacles or animals without driver intervention.
The lineup starts with a rear-wheel-drive version producing 300 kW (402 hp and 500 Nm of torque), paired with a 100 kWh CATL battery offering up to 705 km of CLTC range. A long-range rear-wheel-drive version receives a 109 kWh battery and extends range to 751 km.
At the top of the range sits the all-wheel-drive flagship with 500 kW (670 hp). It accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and is available with either a 100 kWh or 109 kWh battery pack, providing 635 km and 660 km of range respectively.
Prices range from 269,800 yuan for the Pioneer version to 359,800 yuan for the flagship Flagship quattro trim.
